Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences Department of Forest Genetics and Plant Physiology Post doc position in Forest Genetics A postdoctoral position is available in the Department of Forest Genetics and Plant Physiology, UPSC, Umeå, Sweden (www.upsa.se. The successful candidate will join a group researching in the field of forest genetics. A major aim of the group is to develop high-throughput molecular markers (i.e. SNP arrays) to be applied in forest breeding. Other research areas in the group are population genetics and gene family evolution in conifers. The approaches used in this group include genomics, bioinformatics, microarray hybridization and proteomics. Qualifications: The successful candidate have a Ph.D. degree in Genetics, not older than 3 years. Prior experience with bioinformatics, genotyping and genetic mapping studies is required. Preference will be given to candidates with a publication record in plant QTL genetics/genomics area in conifers. Knowledge in basic molecular biology methods, proteomics and array hybridization are considered as a plus. Excellent analytical skills, written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills are required. The position is full time for two years, starting in fall of 2009.
