reference number 315-663-10 Post-doc position in organic chemistry with focus on medical chemistry (2 years) Project description Heart and blood vessel diseases are leading causes of death in the western world.The aim of this project is to develop potent small organic molecules that interact with proteins involved in lipid metabolism.The ultimate goal is to reach compounds that have potential to be developed into novel drugs to treat high levels of blood lipids.The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary team applying medicinal chemistry to design and synthesize compounds with the goal to obtain potent compounds that specifically target proteins involved in plasma lipid metabolism.The project is carried out in collaboration with scientists at the Department of Medical Biosciences.Requirements To qualify for the position you should have a PhD degree or equivalent, not more than three years old, in organic chemistry with focus on organic, bioorganic, or medicinal chemistry.You must be familiar with modern synthetic methodology and purification and characterization techniques including HPLC, LCMS, and NMR spectroscopy.The successful applicant should have good ability to write and speak in English, creativity, power of initiative, independence and ability to collaborate.Application The application should include: (i) a letter of intent, (ii) a certified curriculum vitae, (iii) information on previous education and publications and, (iv) other documents supporting your competence and suitability for the position.We also want e-mail addresses and phone numbers to two reference persons.The application may be written in English or Swedish.Questions about the position will be answered by Prof.Applications will be discarded or, if the applicant so wishes, returned two years after the position has been filled.Documents sent electronically should be in MS Word or PDF format.If you are applying to several positions with different reference numbers, you must submit a separate application for each position.We look forward to receiving your application!
