Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences Department of Urban and Rural Development, Uppsala Post doc researcher in Environmental Communication A post doctoral fellowship is available at The Unit of Environmental Communication at the Department of Urban and Rural Development. The post-doctoral project will investigate the forms of deliberative democracy in the interplay of different interest groups in participatory governance of the environment, and seek knowledge from Nordic experiences in this field to help in other contexts with different biophysical, social and institutional conditions.Selected number of case studies in Sweden and in other countries will be used to determine the forms of deliberative democracy which need to be created or recreated. As an academic subject at SLU we see Environmental Communication as concerned with natural resource management contexts and the issues arising from a collision of demands and perspectives held by production and conservation interests.Within the dominant theme of participatory governance of the environment, our interests in environmental communication are in fostering learning among participants, developing new understanding and new methodological approaches.The post-doctoral position will support in consolidating of present research in the Unit and of focusing on building the theory and practice of environmental communication as an emerging new field in Sweden and beyond. Qualifications: The applicant should have completed a Ph D dissertation at a university other than SLU within the last five years.Research experience from European countries and outside Europe as well as knowledge of Swedish will be seen as an advantage.It is important that the applicant has good skills in cooperation and networking as well as the capacity to take initiatives of her/his own and manage the work in a self-directed way.
