Umeå University - with its 29,000 students and over 4,000 employees - is an organisation in constant change and development.The university's researchers carry out excellence within several areas of research, and many of them are among the world's elite.We are one of Sweden's largest providers of education and offer a broad and attractive range of courses and programmes.Our campus constitutes an inspiring environment for everyone that studies and works here.We wish to co-operate with companies and organisations throughout the Umeå region and all over the world.Post doctoral and PhD student positions in grid computing and virtualization technology Umeå university is seeking outstanding candidates for 1 researcher position, 1-2 post doc positions, and 1-2 PhD student positions at the Department of Computing Science.The grid computing research at the department is currently focusing on the design and analysis of methods, algorithms and software for service-oriented grid and cloud computing infrastructures.Current research topics include resource brokering, accounting, grid-wide fairshare scheduling, multi-level job management systems, workflow management, portals, and the integrated use of virtualization techniques in grids.Topics like grid architecture design, service-oriented architectures, and standardization awareness are central to all these projects.See www.gird.se for an overview of ongoing projects.Part of the research is performed within the EU FP7 funded project RESERVOIR (Resources and Services Virtualization without Barriers).Software is contributed to NorduGrid/ARC and the Globus Toolkit, the latter as a member of the Globus Academic Affiliate Program.The group is also an associated member of the CoreGRID Network of Excellence and member of the NESSI workgroup on service-oriented infrastructure.Post-doctoral fellowships (1 year) (1-2 positions) Dnr: 315-4460-08 PhD students (1-2 positions) Dnr: 315-4610-08 Submitting your application A complete application should include: - Introductory letter with a statement of research interest.- CV.- Copy of completed thesis (PhD for researcher and post doc positions and MSc for PhD student position).- Copies of degree certificates, including documentation of completed academic courses and their grades.- Copies of original research publications.(May not be applicable if applying for PhD student position).- Documentation/description of software development experience.- Contact All material should be submitted electronically or in one printed copy.Applications will be discarded or, if the applicant so wishes, returned two years after the position has been filled.Documents sent electronically should be in MS Word or PDF format.
