Arbetsbeskrivning
We are recruiting a post-doctoral fellow willing to carry out research within fluidized bed technology with focus on the fluid-dynamics and interphase mass transfer and with access to unique units, equipment and experience. The work combines both experimental and modeling work and is to be carried out in international cooperation with other research groups. You will work with researchers with a long and internationally recognized experience in the field of fluidized bed technology and as an employee at the Division of Energy Technology you will be part of a research community with the general aim to reduce the environmental impact of energy use.
Information about the research and the project
The post-doc position has a focus on investigating key underlying mechanisms governing the conversion process in large-scaled fluidized bed units. The mechanisms in focus are those related to the fluid-dynamics and the gas-solids mass transfer, which play a key role in several fluidized bed applications with relevance to the transition of the current energy system towards sustainability. Among such applications, the focus is set on biomass combustors and gasifiers, and reactors for CO2 capture and for thermochemical energy storage.
The research tasks include both planning, leading and executing experimental work and subsequent data analysis with help of modeling. The experimental resources at hand include fluid-dynamically downscaled units (including one of an existing utility-scale CFB boiler) equipped with advanced experimental diagnostic tools for tracking of solid and gases, and concentration measurements. The research will be performed in collaboration with senior researchers and PhD students at the division and international partners.
The division has a long experience in the topic of fluidization technology for large-scale thermo-chemical conversion. The division conducts research at different levels; experimental and modelling at reactor and process levels, process simulations of different energy and industrial processes and energy systems analysis of entire national and regional energy systems. The division has extensive cooperation with industry and governmental organizations and the results from the research are disseminated in the academic community and to different stakeholders in society. The topic of the post-doc is in line with the goals and strategy of the division, among which is to maintain and strengthen its strong position within fluidized-bed research for thermochemical applications. You will work with researchers with a long and internationally recognized experience in the field of fluidized bed technology and as an employee at the Division of Energy Technology you will be part of a research community with the general aim to reduce the environmental impact of energy use. Details of the division's research activities may be found here.
Major responsibilities
Your major responsibility as post-doc is to perform your own research in a research group and merit yourself by producing high quality research to be reported in scientific journals. In addition, you are expected to develop your own scientific concepts and communicate the results of your research to relevant partners and stakeholders. You are also expected to take active part in building and maintaining collaborative links with relevant members of the research team at the Division of Energy Technology. The position is meritorious for future research duties within academia as well as industry.
Position summary
