Post-doctoral fellows The Department of Social and Economic Geography is recruiting 3 post-doctoral fellows The Department of Social and Economic Geography at Umeå University is an interdisciplinary research environment of around 45 employees.The department opens now for 3 post-doctoral positions related to the following areas of research at the department.For more information on the department and Umeå please visit the following web pages: www.umu.se/soc_econ_geography or www.umu.se.1.Resource use conflicts in Northern Europe(2 years - 100%).Refnr: 315-126-09 The successful applicant is expected to contribute to a project dealing with resource conflicts related to mining, nature protection and tourism development.Applicants with experiences and interest in one of these fields and knowledge of quantitative methods and ArcGIS are welcomed particularly.2.Relational mobility determinants (2 years - 100%).Refnr: 315-127-09 The research explores effects of the spatial configuration of social networks (family members, relatives, coworkers at place of work etc.) surrounding each person on mobility, education and income.Applicants with an interest in, and experience of statistical analysis of longitudinal individual data bases are particularly welcome.3.Retail geography (2 years - 100%).Refnr: 315-128-09 The holder of this position is expected to contribute to the development of Scandinavian retail geography with particular emphasis on conditions related to sparesely populated areas.Ongoing trends of population redistribution call for new perspectives on service provision and commerce.The holder of the position is expected to be conversant with quantitative analyses and the use of longitudinal register data.Candidates who have a PhD in Geography or a related field and an interest in interdisciplinary research with no more than three years postdoctoral experience prior to the application date, are eligible to apply.Successful applicants should be committed to contribute to the scientific discourse within the department and are thus expected to be at the Umeå campus most of their time.The application should include three signed copies of your resume and certified copies of any degrees and grades.Provide a short written description of your scientific work and teaching experience.In addition, provide two copies of your scientific work and other documentation as desired (no more than five major publications).Please, also state the desired date for commencing the position.When considering the applicants the equality law, the university equality policy and the department policy will be followed.
