Dnr: 315-674-09 Umeå University - with its 29,000 students and over 4,000 employees - is an organisation in constant change and development.Umeå University conducts groundbreaking research within several areas - several in which we are among the best in the world - within others regarded as the leaders in Sweden.We are one of Sweden's largest providers of education and offer a broad and attractive range of courses and programmes.Our campus constitutes an inspiring environment for everyone that studies and works here.We wish to co-operate with companies and organisations throughout the Umeå region and all over the world.Post-doctoral position at the Department of Surgical and Perioperative Sciences, Surgery A full-time post-doctoral research position is available for two (2) years in a research group working with angiogenesis and tumor stroma in human cancers at the Department of Surgical and Perioperative Sciences, Surgery.The group is studying the tumor stroma with the aim to find novel tumor biomarkers to aid in early detection of cancer, establishing prognosis, prediction of response to therapy and detection of disease relapse.Although the position is in the laboratory, the work will be performed together with clinicians at the Department of Surgery.In the project we characterize the role of tumor stroma-derived substances and their potential use as biomarkers in human cancers.Candidates must have (main qualifications): * A PhD degree, not more than 3 years old * Documented experience of protein analysis and protein expression, in vitro cell culturing, basic skills in molecular biology and immunohistochemical methods.Experience in working with laboratory animals is an advantage. * The successful candidate should have the capacity to work independently in the laboratory, the ability to collaborate with others and experience in scientific writing.Experience in supervising students is an additional merit.A completed application for the position should include: * A single page (A4) describing your research interest, experience and suitability for the position. * Curriculum Vitae and list of publications * Names and contact information of 3 referees together with copies of relevant qualifications.For more information contact Assoc.Prof.Documents sent electronically should be in MS Word or PDF format.
