Umeå University - with its 29,000 students and over 4,000 employees - is an organisation in constant change and development.The university's researchers carry out excellence within several areas of research, and many of them are among the world's elite.We are one of Sweden's largest providers of education and offer a broad and attractive range of courses and programmes.Our campus constitutes an inspiring environment for everyone that studies and works here.We wish to co-operate with companies and organisations throughout the Umeå region and all over the world.Post-doctoral position at the Department of Medical Biosciences, Pathology A full-time post-doctoral research position is available for two (2) years in a research group working with prostate cancer at the Department of Medical Biosciences, Pathology.The long-term goals of the group are to improve prognostication and therapy of advanced disease.The successful candidate will focus on tumor to stroma cell interactions, and the tumor micro-environment.Specific studies of interactions between prostate tumor cells, immune and stroma mesenchymal cells will be performed.Candidates must have (main qualifications): * a PhD degree, not more than 3 years old * documented experience of in vitro cell culturing, gene modifications and functional testing The successful candidate should have experience in prostate cancer research, the capacity to work independently in the laboratory as well as the ability to collaborate with others.Experience of primary cell culture establishments, co-culturing of different tissue cell types, and in vivo experiments in rodents is desirable.
