Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences Department of Ecology, Uppsala.Post-Doctoral position SLU announces a vacancy for a post-doctoral position in colonization history and invasiveness of Roesel s bush-cricket (Metrioptera roeselii) with location at the Department of Ecology, Uppsala.The impact of species invasions, in both natural and managed habitats, is expected to increase; thus, there is a need for increased knowledge about invasion mechanisms.A two-year post-doctoral position is available at the department to study the colonisation history of the invasive Roesel s bush-cricket using molecular genetic markers and the influence of the species colonisation history on invasive traits.Within the Ecology Department we conduct both empirical and theoretical research aiming for efficient conservation, plant protection as well as sustainable forest and crop production.We seek solutions that will aid the preservation of threatened species, benefit biological diversity and control pests. Eligibility: Applicants should have a PhD degree or a foreign degree equivalent to a doctorate.Qualifications: The applicant should be experienced with the application of molecular genetic markers and population genetic theory.Knowledge in phylogeography, insect biology and species invasions is also highly desirable.The applicant should have proven good skills in both oral and written scientific English.The position is full-time and will be granted for a period of two years, starting as soon as possible.Documents that should be included with the application: CV, publication list, PhD diploma, copies of no more than five publications.A short description (2-4 pages) of previous research, current research interests and other activities of relevance for the position.Names and addresses of at least two reference persons.All application documents should be written in English.SLU is an equal opportunity employer.
