Post-doctoral position in Infection Biology A 2 year post-doctoral position is available now at the MIMS (Umeå University, Umeå, Sweden) in the laboratory of Dr.Emmanuelle Charpentier.The MIMS (The Laboratory for Molecular Infection Medicine Sweden within the Nordic EMBL Partnership for Molecular Medicine) is a new laboratory for Molecular Medicine at Umeå University.The aim of this new initiative is to strengthen Swedish research and enhance the dynamics in the field of Molecular Medicine, partly by promoting the career opportunities for young scientists.The groups of the MIMS work in modern laboratories with well-equipped common facilities in a creative and highly interactive environment.The successful candidate will have access to the Nordic partnership for Molecular Medicine that is formed together with the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) and the Finland and Norway nodes, thus providing interaction with researchers from different research fields and access to various technical expertise.The candidate will also have the opportunity to conduct her or his research in close collaboration with groups in Austria, Finland and France within the frame of the European ERA-NET PathoGenoMics Network.Description of the research project The proposed project consists of the identification and characterization of components of Streptococcus pyogenes that are responsible for triggering innate immune responses in macrophages.The project is part of the ERA-NET PathoGenoMics project entitled "Mechanisms and modulation of innate immune responses to Streptococcus pyogenes and Streptococcus pneumoniae".Qualifications and Eligibility Highly qualified and motivated fellows from all over the world are invited to apply.Applicants must hold PhD exam not older than 3 years.Applicants should have a high interest in the field of molecular infection biology and be willing to take on a scientific and technical challenge.A strong background in knowledge and techniques of molecular biology, microbiology and immunology is highly desirable.Start date March 1st 2010.Application procedure The application should be in English and should include a coverletter with a brief statement of research experience and interests, a CV and three letters of reference (or the names of three referees).Documents sent electronically should be in MS Word or PDF format.We look forward to receiving your application!
