Umeå University - with its 33,500 students and over 4,200 employees - is an organisation in constant change and development.Umeå University conducts groundbreaking research within several areas - several in which we are among the best in the world - within others regarded as the leaders in Sweden.We are one of Sweden?s largest providers of education and offer a broad and attractive range of courses and programmes.Our campus constitutes an inspiring environment for everyone that studies and works here.We wish to co-operate with companies and organisations throughout the Umeå region and all over the world.Post-doctoral position within the UCMR Linnaeus Program Umeå Centre for Microbial Research (UCMR; www.ucmr.umu.se) is an interdisciplinary research centre established by a consortium of scientists representing medical & molecular microbiology, molecular & structural biology, chemistry & physics, and is devoted to top quality research and novel applications in the fields of microbial pathogenesis.Project description A post-doctoral position is open within the UCMR Linnaeus Program at Umeå University, Sweden.Our labs utilize state-of-the-art synthetic chemistry, molecular biology, microscopy and cell biological techniques to understand how bacteria assemble and utilize extracellular protein fibers called curli and pili.Requirements The successful candidate will have a PhD, plus experience with both molecular biology techniques and high throughput small molecule screening.Applicants should have received their PhD in 2007 or later.The position will be guaranteed for one year, with the possibility of a second year depending on the success of the project.Application The application should include: (i) a letter of intent, (ii) a certified Curriculum Vitae, (iii) information on previous education and publications and, (iv) other documents supporting your competence and suitability for the position.We also want e-mail addresses and phone numbers to three reference persons.The application should be written in English and can be submitted either electronically (MS Word or PDF format) or in hard-copy form (two copies).Applications will be discarded or, if the applicant so wishes, returned two years after the position has been filled.Applications will be discarded or, if the applicant so wishes, returned two years after the position has been filled.Documents sent electronically should be in MS Word or PDF format.
