Information about the division and the research group
The Division of Food and Nutrition Science at the Department of Biology and Biological Engineering covers a broad range of research topics with focus on nutritional solutions for disease prevention by studies on the molecular, cellular, and whole-body level. The division also aims to promote high food quality, minimize losses throughout the food production chain and to optimize alternative sources for production of nutrients.
The postdoctoral researcher will be a member of The Molecular Nutrition group/Scheers lab. Our research focus is within the area of molecular nutrition. investigate effects on health and disease from specific metal compounds, proteins or other molecules that we absorb from the diet or ingest by supplementation. The goal is to understand cellular mechanisms on the intestinal level and to translate our results into real life. We work on all levels to investigate hypothesis-driven questions - modelling, wet lab, human cell models and human intervention studies.
