Arbetsbeskrivning
A post-doctoral position is available in the Department of Physics and Electrical Engineering at Karlstad University in Sweden. During the last seven years polymer photovoltaics has become an important topic of research at Karlstad University, supported by the Swedish Research Council and the Swedish Energy Agency. We would now like to strengthen the research group. Polymer Solar Cells We are looking for a skilled experimentalist for a research project on conjugated polymer blend solar cells. This solution-based fabrication process of the thin polymer films makes it possible to influence the composition and structure of the film by blending with other molecules or nano-particles. The research project aims at fabricating polymer solar cells from such blends and investigating how the morphology of the film affects the solar cell performance. The main methods that will be used are equipment for fabrication and electrical characterization of the devices, as well as characterization techniques such as scanning probe microscopy (AFM, STM), absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy, photoelectron spectroscopy and secondary ion mass spectrometry. The post-doctoral researcher is also expected to act as a liaison with industrial partners. Most of the experimental work will be carried out at Karlstad University, even though specific tasks may be done at laboratories we cooperate with in or outside of Sweden. The project is funded by the Swedish Energy Agency. Starting date as soon as possible or upon agreement. Length of employment The post is a temporary full-time position and will last 12 months. Extension would be subject to additional external funding. Qualifications and assessment criteria For this position a doctoral degree is required in Physics, Engineering Physics, or in another for this project relevant discipline. The doctoral degree should on 1 September 2009 not be older than 3 years, unless there are special circumstances. Research experience with focus on device fabrication and characterization is a strong requirement. Experience with polymer or organic electronics is a strong asset. Relevant practical experience with systems for coating from solution, vapour deposition and software for semiconductor device characterization are an asset. Demonstrated ability to act as a liaison between academic and industrial partners and experience with the planning of research projects are advantages. Selection is on the basis of individual assessment. Application Your application should contain a cover letter, detailing your motivation to apply for this position, and the following attachments: CV, list of publications, copies of certificates of education and other merits, description of other relevant experience, list of courses taken, including grades and dates, information about your language skills, as well as reference letters or the contact details of two reference persons.
