About the Postdoc Programme
We're currently looking for hardworking scientists to join our innovative academic-style Postdoc. The position is placed at AstraZeneca's dynamic R&D site in Gothenburg, Sweden, where you will be in a global pharmaceutical environment, contributing to live projects right from the beginning. You'll take part in a training programme, including a focus on drug discovery and development, given access to our existing Postdoctoral research, and encouraged to pursue your own independent research in groundbreaking laboratories.
You will also have the support of a leading academic advisor, who'll provide you with the guidance and knowledge you need to develop your career. This is an exciting area that hasn't been explored to its full potential, making this a chance to create a real difference to the future of medical science!
About the Opportunity
As a postdoctoral scientist in the Therapeutic Editing Team, you will join an innovative group of robust individuals who are dedicated to science. We focus on pre-clinical research - understanding fundamental biological processes to eventually craft novel therapeutical approaches and strategies of critical value in various disease areas. You will lead an independent project in a welcoming and encouraging environment, take advantage of modern equipment and proprietary technologies. In your project, you will be encouraged to collaborate with top academic laboratories. We will make sure that you have all the resources required to optimally finalize your project and publish your results. Our work led by former postdoctoral scientists has been published in leading journals and is highly cited.
Qualification, Skills & Experience
We are looking for a goal-oriented, curious and data-driven PhD scientist who is able to effectively work independently, as well as in a team.
Required:
* PhD in molecular/ cell biology/ genetics or similar
* Strong molecular biology skills
* Expertise in cell biology and cellular assays, such as genetic manipulation of cell lines, primary and IPS cells and evaluation genetic functional outcomes
* Broad multidisciplinary experience and meticulous scientific knowledge
* Ability to think creatively and find innovative scientific approaches
Desirable:
* Expertise in neuroscience and working with human IPSC- derived neurons and primary rodent neurons
* Expertise in DNA repair mechanisms and genomic stability
* Experience in next generation sequencing technologies sequence data analysis and bespoke analysis of genomic data
* Understanding of genetic engineering and hands on experience with CRISPR
This is a 3-year programme. 2 years will be a Fixed Term Contract, with a 1-year extension which will be merit based.
