About the Program:
We're currently looking for talented scientists to join our innovative academic-style Postdoc. In this program, you'll be part of a global pharmaceutical environment, contributing to live projects right from the start. You'll take part in a comprehensive training programme, including a focus on drug discovery and development, given access to our existing Postdoctoral research, and encouraged to pursue your own independent research in cutting edge laboratories. This an exciting and newly expanding programme spanning a range of therapeutic areas across a wide range of disciplines.
What's more, you'll have the support of a leading academic advisor, who'll provide you with the guidance and knowledge you need to develop your career. This is an exciting area that hasn't been explored to its full potential, making this an opportunity to make a real difference to the future of medical science.
About the Opportunity:
Want to make an impact in your next position? Here's your chance!
In this key role, we're looking for a postdoc to employ state of the art cell biology, and biophysical approaches to conduct molecular studies on PROTAC (PROteasomal TArgeting Chimera) mechanism. The position will also aid the fundamental understanding of how binding cooperativity will affect cellular degradation efficiency of PROTACs. Lastly, the postdoc will help to develop novel approaches to targeted protein degradation by working in close collaboration with chemists, structural biologists and a leading academic supervisor
If this is your passion, don't miss out on this unique and vital industry Postdoc!
The postdoc will independently plan and conduct experiments to monitor PROTAC mode of action ranging from biophysical binding to cellular degradation. The postdoc will further use the data to pinpoint parameters of special importance for enhancing and optimising degradation efficiency and the role of binding cooperativity in this process.
The postdoc will join the Global Structure & Biophysics team, which provides pre-clinical support, from early target identification activities up the characterisation of candidate drugs.
Essential Education and Experience:
* PhD in cell biology, molecular biology or related discipline
* Demonstrated expertise in running cell assays for monitoring protein degradation (Western blot, Immunofluroscence or similar)
* Demonstrated understanding of E3 ligases and the functional effects of ubiquitination
* Effective communication skills, both oral and written
Desirable Qualifications:
* Practical experience in biophysical techniques, such as SPR or ITC, in monitoring protein-protein and protein-small molecule interactions
* Possess a strong track record of publications in reputable scientific journals as well as conference presentations
* Expertise in working with PROTACs
* Expertise using mechanistic modeling tools (MatLab Simbiology or similar)
* Experience with cellular imaging techniques
This is a 3-year programme. 2 years will be a Fixed Term Contract, with a 1 year extension which will be merit based. The role will be based in Gothenburg, Sweden, with a competitive salary on offer
