The research in applied mathematics at Linnaeus University is profiled towards mathematical modelling in physics, engineering and computer science as well as in the finance and in the insurance industry. Methods are primarily taken from mathematical statistics, mathematical physics, discrete mathematics and computational mathematics.

The subject of the position is Industrial Mathematics. Industrial Mathematics is part of Applied Mathematics and comprises both the development and the application of mathematical techniques that can be used in engineering disciplines and in industry. The subject includes mathematical modelling, numerical simulation as well as computational mathematics.

Extent and period:
The basis for a postdoctoral position is 100 % permanent position to no longer then a maximum of two years.

Context of position:
The dutiesconsist mainly of research within Industrial Mathematics. You are expected to cooperate with researchers and research students internally within the faculty as well as with companies and other external partners in the region. 

20 % of the duties can includeteaching and tutoring in the undergraduate and graduate levels. 

Qualification requirements:
Qualified for the appointment are the ones who hold a PhD, or a foreign degree equivalent to a PhD, and have completed the degree no more than three years before the application deadline.

Applicants must not have previously been employed as a postdoctoral fellow for more than a year in the same or related subject area at Linnaeus University.

Assessment criteria:
With a qualitative overall assessment of competence and skill,applicants shall be selected that are judged most suitable to carry out research within the described area, and to contribute to a successful development of the department. Priority will be given to researchers with demonstrated ability to formulate problems of relevance to regional companies and to a future program in Master of engineering, which can generate publications in highly ranked journals. The work is performed in a research team why teamwork and flexibility is accorded great significance
