The School of Business and Economics (SBE) at Linnaeus University conducts research and education in business administration, economics, statistics as well as tourism studies. The SBE now seek to strengthen and expand research and education in our field of interest, and is therefore recruiting a postdoc focused on tourism and transport & health economics.

Subject area description
The position is financed by the European Union, within the Urban Burden of Disease Estimation for Policy Making programme. The project will develop the understanding of links between urban and transport planning, environmental exposure, physical and health (The postdoc will work on economizing these interrelationships, specifically in the context of the evaluation and development of tools and guidelines for cost benefit analyses.) The consortium involved includes the Barcelona Institute for Global Health, University of Cambridge, University of Utrecht, Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute, as well as the Health and Environment Alliance in Belgium.
Context of position
This position is a fulltime position for two years as a Postdoc researcher as part of the tourism research group at the School of Business and Economics. The candidate is expected to develop and conduct research as part of a fully funded project. The candidate is expected to coordinate research efforts, which includes cost benefit analyses for transport and health for a large sample of European cities. Specifically, the project seeks to advance the understanding of transport-related air pollution, noise, and other exposure factors for quality of life and health. The candidate will also develop relevant new topics and research avenues within this field, and publish results in cooperation with other researchers in leading journals. Participation in project meetings in partner countries is expected, as well as the organization of a workshop in Kalmar.
Requirements
You should have successfully completed a doctoral degree by the application deadline to qualify for a position as postdoctoral researcher at the Linnaeus University. The doctoral thesis focuses on economics, business studies or a related field with relevance.
Since a position as postdoc aims to give new holders of the doctorate the opportunity to strengthen and develop their scholarly proficiency, we aim for those who have a doctoral degree not older than 3 years counting from last date of application.
Applicants must not have previously been employed as a postdoctoral researcher for more than one year in the same or related subject area at Linnaeus University.
Assessment
The assessment takes note of knowledge in quantitative and qualitative methods and techniques, experience of teaching and supervision at postgraduate levels, and published research in leading scientific journals. Additional merits for this position are documented proficient use of quantitative and/or qualitative methods, and knowledge of the transport and health field. We expect you to be fluent in English.
