Your team
You will strengthen the ForMAX team through expertise in full-field tomographic imaging.
The ForMAX beamline is designed for multiscale structural characterization of materials from nm to mm length scales by combining SWAXS and full-field tomographic imaging. A particular focus of the beamline is the development of new materials and specialty chemicals from forest raw material, contributing towards our transition to a sustainable, bio-based economy.
You will lead your own research project using tomography, culminating in scientific publications to foster your career. You should participate in the operation, maintenance, and further development of the beamline, together with the ForMAX team.
Would you like to work at one of the brightest lightsources in the world?
MAX IV is looking for a postdoctoral researcher (3-year position) to exploit novel full-field tomographic imaging capabilities at a fourth-generation synchrotron light source.
Your main work tasks will be:
- Lead a research project to exploit novel full-field tomographic imaging capabilities at ForMAX, that will lead to scientific publications and foster the career of the postdoctoral researcher.
- Contribute to the development of phase contrast tomography and fast/ultra-fast tomographic imaging capabilities at ForMAX.
- Participate in the operation and further development of the beamline, together with the rest of the ForMAX team.
- Support of user experiments, together with the rest of the ForMAX team.
To be successful in this role you need to have the following qualifications:
- PhD degree in physics, chemistry, materials science, or another relevant subject.
- Documented expertise in full-field tomographic imaging, including data analysis.
- Ability to work independently and take initiatives.
- Strong social and communication skills.
- Good command of written and spoken English.
The following are seen as merits:
- Documented experience in the development of full-field tomographic imaging and tomographic image reconstruction.
- Documented experience in the development/commissioning of sample environments.
- Skills in programming.
- Previous work experience at a large-scale research facility.
As a person you are a team player, valuing supporting others in their work. You should have an interest in the science being carried out at ForMAX.
