Work description: The successful candidate will work in a group that addresses how trophic transfer of energy and nutrients in aquatic food webs is affected by food quality.Previous research has mainly focused on the elemental composition of food items, but growing evidence suggests that essential polyunsaturated omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids also can be of paramount importance.In an ongoing project we aim at quantifying the importance of polyunsaturated fatty acids for the trophic transfer efficiency for common taxa in benthic and pelagic habitats and in lakes across humic and nutrient gradients.Applicants should hold a PhD in aquatic ecology or equivalent.Background in studies of trophic relationships and experience of experimental work with planktonic and/or benthic invertebrates is meriting.
