Arbetsbeskrivning
Information about the project
The current position will be engaged in two projects with the common ground in advanced bioanalytical chemistry. The first project is to develop and implement mass spectrometric methods for analysis and validation of dietary biomarkers in nutritional studies. The second project is to develop rapid mass spectrometric screening tools for assessing food authenticity and quality. A cornerstone in both projects is development and application of novel and rapid mass- spectrometric methods. The work will include both hands-on laboratory work and basic and advanced data analysis including multivariate statistics. The position offers a great opportunity for a highly motivated candidate with a background in analytical chemistry and related data analytical science to conduct competitive research in a multidisciplinary research team with access to new, state- of the art instrumentation and computational methods. A keen interest in nutrition and chemometrics is needed and some experience in nutritional metabolomics with focus on mass spectrometry and in biomarker assessment would be assets.

Major responsibilities of this position includes
- Conduct development of a rapid and sensitive LC-MS/MS method for measurement of multiple dietary biomarkers in one method
- Evaluate alternative sampling techniques, such as saliva and dried blood spots, for comprehensive biomarker assessment
- Conduct chemometric / multivariate data analysis of MS data using supervised methods such as PLS and Random Forest.
-Write and publish scientific results.
As a postdoc, you are expected to drive your own research and communicate your results both verbally and in written.
Position summary
Full-time temporary employment. The position is limited to a maximum of two years (1+1).
Qualifications
A successful candidate holds a PhD in analytical chemistry, nutritional biochemistry, food chemistry or in other relevant field. The degree should generally not be older than three years. You are expected to be somewhat accustomed to teaching, and to demonstrate good potential within research and education. Documented experience in liquid chromatography mass spectrometry as well as multivariate Omics data analysis is mandatory. Experience in working with chemometrics/multivariate data analysis in R, nutritional metabolomics, analytical method development and dietary biomarkers is meritorious.
The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in English. Swedish is not a requirement but Chalmers offers Swedish courses.
