Arbetsbeskrivning
The Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering (ACE) is looking for a post-doc candidate with interests in modeling of urban building stocks from an energy and climate perspective integrated in a digital twin and with visualization and programming skills. We offer a transdisciplinary research team and close collaboration with municipal stakeholders and partners from industry.
Information about the division
The research team is hosted in two divisions at the Department of ACE, both with competences in sustainable building and building stock modeling. The division of Architectural theory and methods has a specific focus on spatial visualization and GIS and the division of Building Technology on energy and climate modeling of buildings. Additionally, the research is linked to the Digital Twin Cities Centre, a national competence center hosted by the ACE.
Project description
Now we have an open position for a post-doc who will perform research on urban building stock modeling with focus on energy- and climate aspects together with scenario analyses integrated into a digital twin platform. An important part of work is related to visualization and communication of the research to support decision-making processes for more efficient planning of urban energy supply. The project will be carried out in transdicsiplinary settings, with researchers from architecture, civil engineering and computer science and in close cooperation with the energy supplier Göteborg Energi and other municipal stakeholders.
Major responsibilities
You will conduct own research within a granted research project but also be part of a research team and collaborate with municipal partners. Specific responsibilities are:
- Development of a climate and energy module for building stock model
- Data collection and documentation
- Development of scenario models
- Programming for integration of building stock model and scenario model into digital twin platform
- Development of visualizations
- Documentation of work in popular science and scientific journals as well as in short videos.
Position summary
Full-time temporary employment. The position is limited to a maximum of two years (1+1).
Qualifications
As a successful candidate you should have a PhD degree and a background in architecture, civil engineering, environmental science or other built environment fields with interests in programming and computer science, or have a background in computer science with interests in built environment applications and visualization. The PhD degree should generally not be older than three years.
Experience in programming (C/C++, Python, R, JavaScript etc.) and GIS is a requirement. Demonstrated experience of visualization skills will be considered an asset and experience from working with building stock modeling, energy and/or climate modeling as well as digital twins is a merit.
We value a pro-active personality with a collaborative attitude and a genuine interest for working in teams from both research and practice to ensure proper integration and utilizations of the project for different stakeholders.
