Information about the division and the project
Chalmers continuously strives to be an attractive employer and equality and diversity are substantial foundations in all activities. As an employee at the Division of Energy Technology you are an important part of a group of researchers with the general aim to optimize and reduce environmental impact of industrial energy use. In total, Energy Technology has around 60 employees out of which 30 are PhD-students.
The work is focused on the experimental evaluation of oxygen carriers in pilot plant chemical-looping reacotors. During the project, you will work in a creative research group that is world leading in its field, has extensive experience in practical research and has access to unique experimental infrastructure. The goal is to find effective and affordable oxygen carriers that can be used to increase the efficiency of the CLC and CLG of biomass. The overall goal of our group is to develop revolutionary technology for efficient generation of power, heat, liquid fuel and hydrogen with inherent carbon dioxide capture.
-The details of the departmental research activities may be found here.
Major responsibilities
Your main responsibility as a postdoc is to pursue your own scientific studies and to develop your abilities and knowledge within the research fields covered by the project. You are expected to develop your own scientific concepts and communicate the results of your research verbally at scientific conferences and in written journal articles. You are expected to work with a high degree of independence, while still being capable of close collaboration with other members of the group and external collaborators.
Qualifications
To qualify for the position of postdoc you must have a doctoral degree in a relevant field, such as chemical engineering, power engineering, mechanical engineering, etc. Knowledge about CLC, CLG and fluidization – both experimental and theoretical – is mandatory. Experience in thermochemical conversion of biomass and material characterization is an advantage. You are motivated and independent and possess a problem-solving analytical ability. The position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Swedish is not a requirement but Chalmers offers Swedish courses.
