Postdoc in development of integrated on-chip sensor node

Postdoc in development of integrated on-chip sensor node

Arbetsbeskrivning

We are looking for a postdoc that will have the opportunity to carry out extensive collaboration with top researchers in Europe on forefront technologies using advanced materials and processes.

Information about the division and the research
The Department of Microtechnology and Nanoscience (MC2) focuses on research, innovation and education within the fields of future electronics, photonics, bio- and nanosystems. A close collaboration with Swedish and international partners within academy, industry and society enables scientific excellence and creates an innovative environment. In addition to the 200 researchers and Ph D students, MC2 houses a cleanroom for micro- and nanofabrication with state-of-the-art equipment.

In the Micro- and Nanosystems group of the Electronics Materials and Systems Laboratory we conduct research on the preparation of micro- and nanostructured materials in order to realise devices for a broad range of applications. We are currently engaged with energy harvesting and energy storage for intelligent wireless sensors exploiting nanofibrous materials based on carbon, and we also work with micromachined metamaterials for high frequency electronic systems.

-The details of the departmental research activities may be found here.

Major responsibilities
Your major responsibilities are to develop viable solutions for integrated energy harvesters and electrochemical capacitors in collaborative projects funded within the Horizon2020 program (GreEnergy) and to constructively contribute also to other projects undertaken by the Micro- and Nanosystems group. You are expected to develop your own scientific concepts and communicate the results of your research verbally and in writing. Included in your work is also co-supervision of PhD and master students.

Qualifications
To qualify for the position of postdoc, you must have a doctoral degree directly related to electrochemical capacitor fabrication and characterization, with demonstrated experience in conducting research on characterization and fabrication of electrochemical capacitors. In particular in regards to the application for on-chip sensor nodes. You are expected to be somewhat accustomed to teaching, and to demonstrate good potential within research and education. We are looking for a motivated person that enjoys solving complex problems independently as well as in a team.

The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in English. Swedish is not a requirement but Chalmers offers Swedish courses.

Contract terms
This postdoc position is a full-time temporary employment for up to three years.
