Information about the research
The Forest Products and Chemical Engineering is a multidisciplinary biorefinery oriented research team relying on knowledge of chemistry and chemical engineering involved in current and developing pulping/biorefinery processes and broad interdisciplinary collaborations. Within Chalmers collaborations with Applied chemustry, Organic chemistry, Solid matter physics and Industrial biotechnology should be emphasized.
The presence of the Wallenberg Wood Science Center and the national platform Treesearch at the division provides strong collaboration network and access to advanced research infrastructure. Moreover, the division has traditionally strong commitment to the the forest industry research efforts. Interdisciplinary in its nature, the present project is expected to strongly benefit from these interactions.
Major responsibilities
The main responsibilities of the post doc researcher will be to to elucidate morphological and compositional characteristics of the recalcitrant structural motifs of cellulose substrates resistant to dissolution in aqueous systems and based on that develop dissolution and decoupling strategies for these. The work will require a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach and will be closely related to the already ongoing PhD-projects and collaborations in the group.
Another important aspect involves collaboration within academia and with society at large. The position is meritorious for future research duties within academia as well as industry/the public sector.
