Position description
Digitalisation has been identified as a main enabler towards sustainable production. In this direction, at Mälardalen University, we are working on several research projects in close collaboration with leading manufacturing companies to develop state-of-the-art knowledge in the areas of digitalisation and smart production to support industrial transformation.
We are looking for a skilled postdoc in the area of Industrial Digitalisation for sustainable production, with competences and experience in the development, use and integration of digital technologies in industrial contexts, to join us in different research projects and strengthen our dynamic research environment in smart production.
The tasks of the position mainly consist of research but also teaching and supervision of master and bachelor students, in the areas of production and logistics.
In addition, the appointment requires to actively act to create new funding, applications for research grants, and to participate in strengthening the research and managing of projects in collaboration with industrial and academic partners.
The candidate is expected to work closely with members within Production Development research group and the MDU staff and other scientific partners, as well as the national industrial partners of the university.
The position is a temporary employment of 2 years.
Qualifications requirements
The applicant is required to have a PhD degree in production engineering, Industrial engineering and management, automation, mechanical engineering, computer science, or equivalent. The applicant must have completed the degree no more than three years before the end of the application period.
Some additional comments:
• Research experience and knowledge in the areas of industrial digitalisation for sustainable production, in particularly in the development, use and integration of digital technologies in industrial contexts and in a laboratory environment such as Festo Cyber-physical factory
• Experience with empirical research conducted in industrial settings.
• Experience in participating and leading of different forms of collaborative research projects, in particular industrial cooperation research projects
• Experience of supervision of master/bachelor thesis students
Experience from teaching of master and bachelor level relation to the position

Publication in leading conferences and journals, as well as a track record of collaboration with industrial partners are considered a merit. Understanding of industrial prerequisites and needs, in particular, experience in the fields of industrial digitalisation, smart and sustainable production, and collaborative research with industry are considered of merit.
Previous experience in teaching and supervision of students is a merit.
