Arbetsbeskrivning
The Department of Technology Management and Economics seek to recruit a postdoctoral researcher with a keen interest in research questions related to supply chain planning, logistics and freight transport. We seek a candidate who will use information technology and new ways to organize as enablers to improved supply chain planning and sustainable development.
Information about the research and the department
The project is a cooperation between both academic and industrial parties, including leading suppliers of both autonomous transport solutions and automated materials handling equipment. The overall purpose of the project is to support resource efficient freight transport systems using automated materials handling during loading and unloading and thereby accelerate the transition to automated operation of autonomous vehicles.
The project includes mapping and analysis of the current situation, classification of possible solutions, as well as system descriptions where the relevant systems are defined, described, and evaluated at the site of one of the project members.
The Department of Technology Management and Economics broadly researches the interaction between technology development, industrial systems, society, people, and the environment. The department is organised in six divisions for research and teaching. The postdoctoral researcher will be part of the Division of Supply & Operations Management, which deals with three related subjects: Production logistics, Operations management, and Industrial marketing and purchasing. The division also has a strong link to the Division of Service Management and Logistics. Our research is problem-oriented, empirical, and inter-disciplinary, with strong emphasis on industry and societal relevance and high visibility in leading academic journals.
Major responsibilities
The primary duty as a post doc is to perform research, and to publish the results in high quality journals. The research is expected to be conducted in a collaborative fashion in various constellations within the academic community and in interaction with industrial partners, and it will primarily be based on case studies.
The postdoc is expected to conduct empirical research as primary activity, but will also be involved in teaching activities at the department. The positions include teaching, in bachelor and master courses, up to 20 percent of the total number of working hours.
Qualifications
To qualify for the postdoctoral position, the applicant must have a doctoral degree in a relevant field of the position (such as materials handling, logistics, supply chain management, or operations management), and experience in the topics of the project. The PhD degree should generally not be older than three years. The applicant must have good presentation skills (oral and written) and a proven ability to publish results from research in academic journals. The applicant must also have a proven ability of conducting research in close interaction with industry or other professional organisations.
Excellent communication skills in English are required, both oral and written. Knowledge in Swedish is meritorious but not a requirement. Access to a well-developed research network as well as to a professional network is also meritorious.
Contract terms
This postdoc position is a full-time temporary employment for two years.
