The Department of Technology Management and Economics seek to recruit a postdoctoral researcher with a keen interest in research questions related to planning supply chain, logistics and freight transport. We seek a candidate who will use information technology and new ways to organize as enablers to improved supply chain planning and sustainable development.
Information about the research and the department
The research concerns supply chain visibility, supply chain collaboration, supply chain planning, transport planning and the supply chain planning and transport planning interface. The research will involve the use of information technology for collaboration, planning and execution in supply chains.
The Department of Technology Management and Economics broadly researches the interaction between technology development, industrial systems, society, people and the environment. The department is organized in six divisions for research and teaching.
The postdoctoral researcher will be placed at either the Division of Supply & Operations Management or the Division of Service Management & Logistics, depending on the research focus. The postdoctoral researcher will work with the faculty and another postdoctoral researcher in the fields of supply chain planning, transport planning, supply chain collaboration and digitalization.
Major responsibilities
The primary duty as a post doc is to perform research, and to publish the results in high quality journals. The research is expected to be conducted in a collaborative fashion in various constellations within the academic community and in interaction with industrial partners, and it will primarily be based on case studies.
The post doc is expected to conduct empirical research as primary activity, but will also be involved in teaching activities at the department. The positions include teaching, in bachelor and master courses, up to 20 percent of the total number of working hours.
Qualifications
To qualify for the postdoctoral position, the applicant must have a doctoral degree in a relevant field of the particular position (such as logistics, supply chain management or operations management), and experience in the topics of the project. The PhD degree should generally not be older than three years. The applicant must have good presentation skills (oral and written) and a proven ability to publish results from research in academic journals. The applicant must also have a proven ability of conducting research in close interaction with industry or other professional organisations.
Meritorious experiences and skills are:
- Access to a well-developed research network as well as a professional network.
- Ability to collaborate.
- Experience of collaborations with partners outside academia.
The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in English. Swedish is not a requirement but Chalmers offers Swedish courses.
Contract terms
This postdoc position is a full-time temporary employment for two years.
