Arbetsbeskrivning
We have the power of over 40,000 students and co-workers. Students who provide hope for the future. Co-workers who contribute to Linköping University meeting the challenges of the day. Our fundamental values rest on credibility, trust and security. By having the courage to think freely and innovate, our actions together, large and small, contribute to a better world. We look forward to receiving your application!
Work assignments
The work includes experimental research in electrochemistry, especially studies of electrocatalytic oxygen reactions and CO2 conversion. These reactions are crucial for the technology development for a sustainable society, e.g. fuel cells, electrolyzers, and carbon dioxide utilization. The catalysts we develop are either multicomponent thin films or mesoporous transition metal oxides, both made from abundant, cheap, non-toxic elements. Your research tasks cover, for example, designing and using experimental cells for in situ studies of catalytic reactions by FTIR, Raman spectroscopy, x-ray spectroscopy and electrocatalytic evaluation. Synthesis of catalysts and their materials characterization may be included depending on your background. Within the project, you will collaborate closely with doctoral and master's students.
As postdoc, you will principally carry out research. A certain amount of teaching may be part of your duties, up to a maximum of 20% of working hours.
Qualifications
To be qualified to take employment as postdoc, you must have been awarded a doctoral degree or have a foreign degree that is deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree. This degree must have been awarded at the latest by the point at which LiU makes its decision to employ you.
It is considered advantageous if your doctoral degree is no older than three years at application deadline for this job. If there are special reasons for having an older doctoral degree – such as taking statutory leave – then these may be taken into consideration.
We are looking for someone with a PhD in electrochemistry, materials science, chemistry, physics, or similar. Documented experimental experience in electrocatalysis is considered to be a strong merit. Furthermore, experience in the synthesis of thin films or mesoporous materials, and material characterization gives merit.
Fluent English, spoken and written, is a necessity.
You are driven, creative, and self-motivated with excellent problem-solving skills.
We also think you prosper in a collaborative research environment as you will be contributing to a team of researchers, from both academia and industrial companies, across the globe.
The workplace
You can read about the the workplace here https://liu.se/en/organisation/liu/ifm/nano. The division of Nanostructured Materials carries out research and undergraduate and postgraduate education within materials science. The division has two focus branches: mesoporous materials for drug delivery, catalysis, and sensing, and growth of thin films for various applications, e.g. high-temperature wear or corrosion resistance, and catalysis.
The employment
This employment is a temporary contract of two years with the possibility of extension up to a total maximum of three years.
The employment is full-time.
Starting by agreement.
Salary and employment benefits
The university applies individual salaries.
