Arbetsbeskrivning
In this project, you will tackle an important environmental and health problem with one of the most promising materials chemistry innovations of the last 20 years. At Chalmers you will be able to solve the most tricky structural problems of MOF and COF chemistry with the very latest single crystal X-ray diffraction technology. Our group is small but diverse, with many international collaborations, having been in the MOF field since 1995. You will also work interdisciplinary with our collaborating research group focused on practical aspects of PFAS removal.
Information about the division and the research group
The secret life of molecules is the main theme of our research and teaching in the Division of Chemistry and Biochemistry. We are studying how small and large molecules can be produced, their interactions with each other in materials or in living cells and how they can capture and convert energy. The results of our fundamental research give premise of advances and applications in areas ranging from energy and materials to nanotechnology and medicine.
The Crystal Engineering group's research is devoted to various fundamental aspects of Metal-Organic Frameworks, Coordination Polymers and Covalent Organic Frameworks with specific focus on the analysis of structures. This project aims at developing MOF synthesis with application aims to capturing per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, PFASs, in drinking water. The project is a collaboration with analytical chemists at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences specializing in the PFAS problem.

Major responsibilities
Your major responsibility as postdoc is to perform your own research in a research group. The position may also include teaching on undergraduate and master's levels as well as supervising master's and/or PhD students to a certain extent. Another important aspect involves collaboration within academia and with society at large. The position is meritorious for future research duties within academia as well as industry/the public sector.
Contract terms
Full-time temporary employment, initially one year but can be extended to two years. The position is limited to a maximum of two years (1+1).
Qualifications
We are looking for a PhD with experience in synthesis and characterization of Metal-Organic Frameworks or Covalent Organic Frameworks, who wants to develop both applications and advance the fundamental understanding of these materials. You should be a highly motivated, quality conscious individual with a PhD in chemistry, the degree should generally not be older than three years. You should find it motivating working alone as well as in close collaboration with others. Proficiency in written and spoken English is necessary, and knowledge of other languages a plus.
