Arbetsbeskrivning
This project enables you to
- put forward resource-efficient processes paving the way to a climate-neutral bioeconomy
- work closely with innovative industrial processes and companies
- learn about up-scaling of lab-scale processes—crucial for implementation of research.
Information about the research
The main focus will be to develop and optimize the extraction of cellulose from the selected cellulose rich residues and the pretreatment processes of the generated pulps to validate the most resource efficient extraction processes, based on material properties, material yield, its chemical and energy demand. The project activities are classified as both fundamental and industrial research. Most of the research and development will hold an applied industrial research and focus on developing models for refining the cellulose streams and evaluate their properties and potential applications. The project has an outline over 2 years, including two project phases:
Phase 1: the development phase - where the most potential residues are validated, and
Phase 2: the implementation phase - where a deeper implementing approach will be taken to scale up and/or broadened scope of residues will be applied in order to collect process streams for simulation of full industrial scale throughout the value chain.
Major responsibilities
You will participate in research both on lab-scale and industrial scale and work together with researchers from academy, industry and research institute on the development of resource efficient processes for alternative cellulose feedstocks from residual streams for increased value as a dissolving pulp. You are expected to write journal papers, present the results at meetings and write technical reports.
The position as a postdoc is a full-time temporary employment that offers an opportunity to qualify for further research positions within academia or industry.
Contract terms
Full-time temporary employment. The position is limited to a maximum of two years (1+1).
Qualifications
You should have a PhD in chemistry or chemical engineering or similar.
You must have good command of spoken and written English and have good presentation and collaborative skills.
