The Department of Soil & Environment conducts research, environmental monitoring & assessment and higher education for sustainable soil management in agriculture, forestry and urban environments. Outcomes are aligned to and contribute towards national and international strategies on food security, national environmental objectives and climate reporting as well as the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The majority of the department’s activities and employees are located in the Soil-Water-Environment building on the SLU Ultuna campus in Uppsala, and there is a research group and a field research station situated in Skara.
Duties:
The group Biogeochemistry of Forest Soils in the Department of Soil and Environment is looking for a postdoc to explore the cycling of carbon and phosphorus in soils in different terrestrial ecosystems. The postdoc will work with soils from long-term field experiments and environmental monitoring sites under different types of land-use on different continents. He/She will use stable as well as non-stable isotopes to explore carbon and phosphorus cycling and conduct method development.
Qualifications:
• PhD in Soil Science or similar
• Experience in (stable or non-stable) isotope analysis Experience in substance-specific isotope analysis is desirable Experience in soil chemical analyses
• High proficiency in statistical analyses
• High proficiency in spoken and written English
• Very good writing skills
• Good communication skills
• High level of enthusiasm about soil research
As postdoctoral appointments are career-developing positions for junior researchers, we are primarily looking for candidates with a doctoral degree that is three years old at most.
