Postdoc in turbulence interface interaction in dispersed flows

Postdoc in turbulence interface interaction in dispersed flows

Arbetsbeskrivning

The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering represents a broad field of fundamental and applied research and education within chemistry and chemical engineering. Our research activities reach from fundamental chemistry, chemistry at the interface of biology and medicine, materials science, renewable energy, to chemical engineering processing, material recycling, nuclear chemistry, as well as theory and modelling. We are committed to teaching at the undergraduate, graduate, as well as postgraduate level. Academic freedom, interdisciplinary research, entrepreneurship and making societal impact, are key factors in our work. We strive to offer an environment where you can combine world leading research and teaching with a good work-life balance.

Information about the division and the project
Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden is seeking a highly qualified postdoctoral research associate to investigate the behavior of turbulence interface interactions and establish new models for CFD analysis. Funded by the Swedish Research Council, this project aims at i.) improving the understanding of the interactions between turbulence and interfaces, ii.) elucidate droplet and gas bubble breakup in turbulent flows, iii.) develop reliable subgrid CFD models i.e. kernels required for CFD-PBM simulation of processes where gas-liquid and liquid-liquid flows is central. The position as postdoctoral research associate is for two years.

CFD simulations in chemical, biochemical, food and other engineering disciplines often involve rapid micro scale phenomenon e.g. breakup, coalescence, mixing and fast reactions. This project aims at improving our understanding and develop the next generation subgrid models for CFD analysis.
