Position description
As a part of the WIRE research project, the Embedded Systems (ES) centre of excellence within the School of Innovation, Design and Engineering (IDT) at Mälardalen University (MDH) invites applications for a position as a postdoctoral researcher with a focus on reliable, time-critical wireless communications.

The main goal of project WIRE is to achieve increased dependability of time-critical wireless communication when used in industrial automation environments. To be accepted for use in industrial applications, wireless technologies must offer similar performance in terms of dependability and predictability as provided by current wired solutions. Wireless solutions of today still fail to do this. Therefore, new research is required, aimed at increasing wireless reliability, availability, robustness, and maintainability subject to real-time constraints. The results will enable wider applicability of wireless communication systems in time-critical industrial applications, e.g. process control systems.

As a postdoc in the project, you will be involved in research on methods to increase dependability for time-critical applications relying on wireless communications. The area of research can be partly adapted according to the expertise of the applicant.

The employment is funded for a period of two years, and allows a maximum of 20 % teaching.

Qualification requierements
The applicant is required to have a PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.

Special requirements
The School is looking for a researcher in wireless communications. Exposure to and experience in data communications, wired and wireless systems, communications theory, and/or standardization, as well as a demonstrated track record of industrial collaboration are considered valuable for the position. A publication record in leading international conferences and journals is expected. International experience is considered a plus.

For appointment to this position both scientific and teaching experience will be considered, although most importance is attached to scientific excellence in the field. Individual wages are applied, so it is desirable that the applicant specifies salary in the application.
