Arbetsbeskrivning
This is a full-time temporary employment (1+1 years) postdoc position suitable for a self-propelled, independent, motivated and innovative individual that provides great opportunities for developing your own research ideas within the area of fuel cell design and vehicle propulsion.
Information about the department and the research
The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering is the largest department of 13 at Chalmers with approximately 320 employees, divided into four research divisions. We are situated at campus Johanneberg in the middle of Gothenburg and perform research ranging from fundamental and applied chemistry to chemical engineering of industrial plants. We conduct teaching at the undergraduate, graduate, as well as postgraduate level in these areas.
We tackle global challenges in the areas of health, energy, sustainability and transport by developing new knowledge and enabling technologies in the areas of nano- and materials science and chemical production methods. Our vision is “Through curiosity and knowledge towards a sustainable world”.
The Palmqvist research group develops new materials for energy and environmental applications. We have a strong focus on electrode materials for fuel cells and electrical storage, and aim to develop sustainable and low cost alternatives. We are well equipped for structural characterisation and electrochemical evaluation of these materials.
Major responsibilities
Your major responsibility as postdoc is to perform research in a research group. You will work with modeling, prototyping and experimental verification of flow in membrane electrode assemblies and fuel cell stacks based on noble metal-free fuel cell catalysts to guide development of efficient cell and stack designs for vehicle applications. Innovative designs and applications are encouraged.
Qualifications
To qualify as a postdoc candidate, you must have a PhD level degree in Engineering or equivalent with a focus on fluid mechanics for flow modeling, prototype manufacturing and flow evaluation, awarded no more than three years prior to the application deadline (according to the current agreement with the Swedish Agency for Government Employers). You must be an experienced user of suitable fluid mechanics modeling software. You must be an experienced user of workshop tools such as 3D-printing and CNC milling, etc. You also must be experienced in experimental evaluation of flow in various structural designs.
Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the work, the candidate is expected to have good collaboration skills and be able to communicate effortlessly in English, both orally and in writing.
Contract terms
This postdoc position is a full-time temporary employment for 2 years (1+1 years).
