Arbetsbeskrivning
Replacing Animal Experimentation in Preclinical Predictive Drug Testing by Developing In Vitro Models Derived from Human Embryonic Stem Cells
Duties: The Division of Biotechnology coordinates two EU-funded research consortia each including nine European partners from universities, biotech and pharma companies. The joint research teams develop novel assay platforms to assess toxic effects from new drugs under development in the pharmaceutical and chemical industry. The projects involve differentiation of human embryonic stem cells to hepatocytes and cardiomyocytes. The stem cell derived cells together with novel sensor technologies and culturing methods are used to develop alternative in vitro methods for improving toxicological assessment of new drugs and to markedly reduce animal experimentation by replacing current animal models.
Potential postdoctoral projects are:
. Exploring 2-D fluorimetry for hepatocyte characterization
. Using immuno-sensing methods for toxicological evaluations
. Fast detection of cardiomyocyte biomarkers using biosensors
Qualifications: Suiatable background:
Eminence in cell biology/biochemistry with a profound understanding of bioanalytical methodologies.
Methodological skills:
The candidate should have practical skills in several of the following techniques: Cell culture techniques, Analysis of gene expression and proteins, Immunoanalytical techniques, Fluorescense microscopy, Toxicological methods, MALDI-TOF masspectrometry, Flow cytometry
Location: Division of Biotechnology, Linköping University, Linköping
