Postdoc position in 3D computer vision

Postdoc position in 3D computer vision

Arbetsbeskrivning

The Computer Vision group at Chalmers University is looking for a post-doctoral researcher conducting research at the intersection of 3D computer vision and machine learning. The computer vision group at Chalmers is particularly strong in geometric computer vision, multi-view geometry and related mathematical models. A number of recently acquired projects aim to combine geometric reasoning with machine learning in order to inject e.g. invariances into learning methods and architectures. The successful post-doc candidate will in particular collaborate with PhD students recently hired for these projects.

Funding has been obtained from the Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program (WASP), which is Sweden’s largest individual research program ever, a major national initiative for strategically motivated basic research, education and faculty recruitment. The program addresses research on artificial intelligence and autonomous systems acting in collaboration with humans, adapting to their environment through sensors, information and knowledge, and forming intelligent systems-of-systems. The vision of WASP is excellent research and competence in artificial intelligence, autonomous systems and software for the benefit of Swedish industry.

Information about the group
The Computer Vision Group conducts research in the field of automatic image interpretation and perceptual scene understanding. The group targets both medical applications, such as the development of new and more effective methods and systems for analysis, support and diagnostics, as well as general computer vision applications including autonomously guided vehicles (particularly self-driving cars), image-based localization, structure-from-motion and object recognition. The main research problems include mathematical theory, algorithms and machine learning (deep learning) for inverse problems in artifical intelligence.

Major responsibilities
Your main responsibility as post-doctoral researcher will be to perform your own research within the aims and tasks mentioned in the project information above.

The responsibilities include documentation or your work and dissemination of results in scientific papers and project reports. Project results should be presented at project meetings and external conferences.

Position summary
Full-time temporary employment. The position is limited to a maximum of two years (1+1).

Qualifications
You must have a PhD level degree with a background in computer vision, machine learning, applied mathematics or a related field.

The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in English. Swedish is not a requirement but if you have an interest in learning Swedish, Chalmers offers Swedish courses.

Chalmers continuously strives to be an attractive employer. Equality and diversity are substantial foundations in all activities at Chalmers.
