Information about the research/the project/the division
The Forest Products and Chemical Engineering is a multidisciplinary biorefinery oriented research team relying on knowledge of chemistry and chemical engineering involved in current and developing pulping/biorefinery processes and broad interdisciplinary collaborations. Within Chalmers collaborations wit Surface chemistry, Polymer Technology, Solid Matter Physics and Industrial biotechnology should be emphasized.

The presence of the Wallenberg Wood Science Center and the national collaboration platform Treesearch at the division provides strong collaboration network and access to advanced research infrastructure. Moreover, the division has traditionally strong commitment to the the forest industry research efforts. Interdisciplinary in its nature, the present project is expected to strongly benefit from these interactions.

Major responsibilities as a postdoc
The main responsibilities of the postdoc researcher will be to develop strategies - relying on physical and/or chemical crosslinking - suitable for tailoring cellulose networks generated in alkaline aqueous solutions. The work will require a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach and will be closely related to the already ongoing PhD-projects and collaborations in the group.

Your major responsibility as postdoc is to perform your own research in a research group. Another important aspect involves collaboration within academia and with society at large. The position is meritorious for future research duties within academia as well as industry/the public sector.

Position summary
Full-time temporary employment. The employment period is 13 months.

Qualifications
To qualify for the position you must have a PhD degree (the PhD degree must not have been earned more than two years prior to the application deadline) whithin the field of polysaccharides or cellulose chemistry/materials or related polymer materials. Experience of working with polymer (polysaccharides and cellulose in particular) solutions, gels and their analytics is meritorious, experience of scattering analytics and rheometry in particular. As a person you are self-motivated, structured and have a problem solving attitude along with a great ability to collaborate with others.

The selected post-doc will get a 13 months scholarship. Hence the applicant must not have lived in Sweden for the past three years. The position is limited to a maximum of 13 months. You are expected to be somewhat accustomed to teaching, and to demonstrate good potential within research and education.

The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in English.
