Arbetsbeskrivning
We welcome applicants for an exciting postdoc position where you will take part in a project that contributes to the development of a multi-pathway platform for CO2 capture and storage. This project enables you to work closely with industrial processes and companies and to gain specialist knowledge on magnetic resonance imaging, reactor design, modeling and life-cycle analysis.
Information about the research
To meet the Swedish climate goals for 2045, CO2 capture technologies must be made available for a broad range of industries. The main focus will be to develop multi-pathway platform for CO2 capture and storage based on the tunable carbonate (CO32-) chemistry. This platform will utilize the residual streams at industrial sites, instead of a suboptimal ”one-size-fits-all” solution. Solid carbonates can either be stable minerals (to refill excavations) or unstable ones (for reconversion into CO2). Maximum conversion will be reached through a combination of iterative reactor design and computational fluid dynamics simulations. This approach will enable a pilot-scale demonstration and consequently a creation of a digital-twin for the CO2 capture system.
Information about the division
The Division of Chemical Engineering includes the following groups: Chemical Engineering Design, Chemical Reaction Engineering, Forest Products and Chemical Engineering. We have a wide range of experience and work both experimentally and with modeling. We have a long tradition of working with both fundamental scientific questions and applied problems together with industry. We collaborate with for example the forest, pharmaceuticals, food science, chemistry and automotive industries and their equipment manufacturers. We also participate in many international networks with both companies and universities.
Major responsibilities
You will participate in research both on lab-scale and work together with researcher from academy and industry on the development of resource and energy-effcient processes for CO capture and storage. You are expected to write journal papers and present the results at meetings.
Contract terms
Full-time temporary employment. The position is limited to a maximum of two years (1+1).
Qualifications
To qualify for the position of postdoc, you must have a doctoral degree in chemistry or chemical engineering or equivalent. To be suitable for the position you need to have good presentation and collaborative skills. You are expected to be somewhat accustomed to teaching, and to demonstrate good potential within research and education.
The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in English. Swedish is not a requirement but Chalmers offers Swedish courses.
Application procedure
The application should be marked with Ref 20210479 and written in English. The application should be sent electronically and be attached as pdf-files, as below:
CV: (Please name the document as: CV, Surname, Ref. number) including:
• CV, include complete list of publications
• Two references that we can contact.
Personal letter: (Please name the document as: Personal letter, Family name, Ref. number)
1-3 pages where you:
• Introduce yourself
• Describe your previous research fields and main research results
• Describe your future goals and future research focus
