We hope that you will help us to build the sustainable companies and societies of the future.The department of Product and Production at Luleå University of Technology is searching for a postdoc to work on laser welding solutions for hydrogen storage units in steel.

We are searching for a dedicated person that will contribute to science and technology in order to develop efficient joining for parts, with the application of hydrogen storage units. In this particular work you will work in a project where you will investigate novel laser based joining methods and to produce samples for development of a new ultrasonic characterization technique for structures.

Subject description
Manufacturing Systems Engineering is concerned with the individual processes and techniques involved in the manufacture of entire systems for industrial production, as well as their design. An important area is laser materials processing.

Project description
The project manufacturing by laser welding and ultrasonic measurement is part of a national konsortie with leading actors and part of the Centre for Hydrogen Energy Systems Sweden (CH2ESS), which is a research- and knowledge building platform at Luleå university of technology in close cooperation with the industry within the area of hydrogen research.

Duties
Your main task is to conduct experiments and evaluate through digital tools and theoretical research within the area of laser welding. Scientific results will be published in peer-reviewed scientific journals and also present at national and international conferences. For postdocs this will be an excellent opportunity to perform state-of-the-art research to further your career perform teaching in courses. Teaching and pedagogical development work may be included in the duties, up to a maximum of 20% of the working hours.

Qualifications
In order to be eligible for employment as post doctor you must have a PhD or a foreign degree equivalent to a PhD in laser materials processing (the project is particularly about laser welding). A doctoral degree awarded no more than three years before the application deadline provides a useful qualification. Candidates who have been awarded a doctoral degree at an earlier date may also be considered if there are special grounds, for example, different types of statutory leave of absence.

A high degree of speaking and writing in English is required. If you in addition also can communicate in Swedish it is beneficial.
