Arbetsbeskrivning
We are recruiting a postdoc in the field of 2D materials and its composites, to execute projects concerning graphene and related 2D materials. The work will focus on the chemical functionalization of 2D materials with novel molecules/polymers and preparation of functionalized graphene based composites for different applications, for example sensors and energy related applications.
This is a fully funded position with a competitive salary, and social benefits according to Swedish standards.
We offer excellent working conditions, and access to world-class facilities and infrastructure.
The main competencies at the Department of Industrial and Materials Science are found in the areas of: Human-Technology Interaction | Form and Function | Modeling and Simulation | Product Development | Material | Production and in the interaction between these areas. The research develops the industrial process, from need to finished product while creating added value. To combine skills throughout the whole chain distinguishes the department both nationally and internationally. Here we gather internationally prominent researchers, in dynamic and outstanding research environments, as well as in national and international research networks.
The Division of Materials and Manufacture is a part of the Department of Industrial and Materials Science. The division covers the entire value chain from materials design, processing and characterisation to machining of primarily metals. We employ a range of technologies - powder metallurgy, electroplating, additive manufacturing and material removal - and a range of advanced characterisation techniques. Our work is interdisciplinary by nature and is addressing topics that have a direct impact on sustainability. The division is collaborating closely with other universities and research institutes and is implementing industry-academia partnerships through collaborative projects and strategic initiatives such as the National Competence Centre for Additive Manufacturing - Metal (CAM2) and the Chalmers Centre for Metal Cutting Research (MCR).
Major responsibilities
You will perform daily research activities in the lab in an independent way, possibly supervising the activities of PhD students. You are expected to develop own scientific concepts and communicate the results of the research performed verbally and in writing in English.
Contract terms
Full-time temporary employment. The position is limited to a maximum of two years (1+1).
Qualifications
To qualify for the position of postdoc, you must have a doctoral degree in a relevant field; the degree should generally not be older than three years. You should be fluent in English, have good collaborative skills and ability to communicate your results in writing and presentations.
- PhD in Materials Science, Polymer Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering or related disciplines, awarded by an internationally recognized university;
-Highly motivated and independent candidate, with strong passion and good knowledge of graphene related materials, advanced characterisation, and materials science;
- Practical abilities and inclination to work in a chemical lab, imagine and build new experimental setups, perform statistical analysis of experimental data;
- Skilled in polymer/organic synthesis, characterization and processing;
- Strong interest in the fabrication of devices sensors and energy related devices.;
- Experienced in interaction with academic and industrial partners;
- Full professional proficiency in English.
The following qualifications will be considered as advantages:
· Experience in surface chemistry, graphene production, advanced materials characterization techniques and/or pressure sensors and energy storage and conversion related applications;
· Ability to communicate in Swedish.
All the skills mentioned above have to be clearly indicated in the application and confirmed, if possible, by supplementary documentation (PhD thesis, journal papers, course certificates, reference letters, etc.)
Chalmers continuously strives to be an attractive employer. Equality and diversity are substantial foundations in all activities at Chalmers.
