Postdoc position in polymer brushes and nanopores

Postdoc position in polymer brushes and nanopores

Arbetsbeskrivning

With this position, you get the chance to work in a very strong research environment. The topic is interdisciplinary and very active worldwide. It is an excellent opportunity to merit yourself for whatever future career you pursue.

Information about the project
Our group works with chemically modified nanostructures for various applications. In this particular project we are interested in using polymer brushes to control molecular permeability of solid state nanopores. Besides offering the possibility to better understand the behavior of macromolecules and supramolecular interactions, the systems that we develop may be used as novel bioanalytical tools, providing new ways to separate and analyze biomolecules, possibly even at the single molecule level.

This broad project requires knowledge about advanced nanofabrication techniques, surface analysis and organic chemistry synthesis, among other things. (You are not expected to know everything when you start, but some topic relevance in your background is meriting.) You will work closely together with PhD students and other postdocs in the same research group.

Please check this webpage for further information about the research activities: http://www.adahlin.com

Major responsibilities
Your duty as a postdoc is to conduct research and present your results in written and oral forms. Although you must follow a project plan assigned to you, new ideas and "sidetracks" may also be possible to investigate. (You are welcome to propose projects on your own.) Note that no teaching duties apply, although you may act as advisor to undergraduate students performing projects.

Position summary
Full-time temporary employment. A "postdoc" position is limited to a maximum of two years (1+1) but does not exclude the possibility to apply for other positions at Chalmers afterwards.

Qualifications
Your PhD degree should be in a reasonably relevant research field and at the most 3 years old, preferably maximum 2 years. Good recommendations from your PhD supervisor are important. Previous experience with related techniques or on similar projects is meriting but not compulsory. A strong publication record is meriting but not a formal requirement either.

The starting date is flexible.

The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in English. Swedish is not a requirement but if you have an interest in learning Swedish, Chalmers offers Swedish courses.

Chalmers continuously strives to be an attractive employer. Equality and diversity are substantial foundations in all activities at Chalmers.
