Postdoc position in propagating photons and their interaction with qubits

Arbetsbeskrivning

The Department of Microtechnology and Nanoscience focuses on research, innovation and education within the fields of future electronics, photonics, bio- and nanosystems. A close collaboration with Swedish and international partners within academy, industry and society enables scientific excellence and creates an innovative environment. In addition to the 200 researchers and Ph D students, MC2 houses a cleanroom for micro- and nanofabrication with the latest equipment.Information about the research
The research at the Quantum Device Physics Laboratory (QDP) extends over a variety of different topics. QDP is therefore divided in to three sub groups: Experimental Mesoscopic Physics (EMP), Quantum Devices & Oxide Electronics (QuOx) and the Bolometer Group. The focus of the EMP group where this position will be placed is quantum information, quantumoptics on-chip, molecular and single electronics.

Major responsibilities
We have during several years been persuing research on the quantum properties propagating  microwave photons. In particular we have studied the interaction between superconducting qubits and microwave photons in open transmission lines. We are now looking for a post-doc to continue this research. The work involves nano fabrication of superconducting circuits, and measurements a milli Kelvin temperatures.

Your major responsibility as postdoc is to perform your own research in a research group. The position may also include supervising master's and/or PhD students to a certain extent. Another important aspect involves collaboration within academia and with society at large. The position is meritorious for future research duties within academia as well as industry/the public sector.

Position summary
Full-time temporary employment. The position is limited to a maximum of two years (1+1).

Qualifications
To qualify for the position of postdoc, you must have a doctoral degree in physics; the degree should generally not be older than three years. You are expected to be somewhat accustomed to teaching, and to demonstrate good potential within research. Experience in Nanofabrication, Cryogenics microwave measurments are desired.

The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in English.

Application procedure
The application should be marked with Ref 20130418 and written in English. The application should be sent electronically via Chalmers webpage.

Application deadline: January 15, 2014
