Postdoc position in Relativistic Quantum Field Theory implemented in cQED

Arbetsbeskrivning

The Department of Microtechnology and Nanoscience (MC2) focuses on research, innovation and education within the fields of future electronics, photonics, bio- and nanosystems. A close collaboration with Swedish and international partners within academy, industry and society enables scientific excellence and creates an innovative environment. In addition to the 200 researchers and PhD students, MC2 houses a cleanroom for micro- and nanofabrication with the latest equipment.

At the Applied Quantum Physics Laboratory (AQP lab), we work on theoretical aspects of future high-performance nano-electronic systems. Our research covers a broad spectrum of problems, everything from the fundamental problems to the very applied ones.

We work in close collaboration with the experimental groups at the Linnaeus Center “Engineered Quantum Systems” at Chalmers. Our major research interests cover quantum information processing with superconducting electronics, mesoscopic superconductivity and transport in nanostructures, molecular electronics, and graphene electronics.

Major responsibilities
We are seeking applicants for a post-doc position in theoretical physics. The research will be directed towards the interplay between relativistic quantum information and superconducting circuits at the quantum level. In particular, we want to investigate the possibilities to explore relativistic quantum information in superconducting circuits. The boundary condition corresponding to mirror moving at relativistic velocities can be realized in superconducting circuits. This has been used to demonstrate the dynamical Casimir effect and we have also theoretically explored the possibility to simulate the twin paradox in superconducting circuits. We now want to investigate the possibilities to explore the relation between energy transfer and information in this relativistic setting and hopefully suggest new experimental setups.

Position summary
Full-time temporary employment. The position is limited to a maximum of one year.
