Arbetsbeskrivning
At AstraZeneca, innovation is more than just research. As one of the world's leading pharmaceutical companies, we are focused on providing medicines that make a real difference in patient care. We have an entrepreneurial and collaborative culture, where people feel valued, energised and rewarded for their ideas and contributions, can immerse themselves in their work and make significant contributions towards scientific excellence. We push the boundaries of science to deliver medicines that transform lives of people around the world.
Discovery Sciences is a global function within Innovative Medicines at AstraZeneca and supports Innovative Medicine project teams from multifunctional capability centers in Alderley Park/UK, Cambridge/UK, Boston/US and Mölndal/Sweden.
Within our Reagents & Assay Development Department, we are expanding our existing capabilities in the area of Precise Genome Editing (PGE), working with CRISPR/Cas9-based genome editing in addition to ZFN and TALEN. We have several new exciting opportunities for PostDoctoral Fellows within our teams.
The prime focus of these 2-3 year postdoctoral projects is around technology development and application of PGE technologies for biomedical research, in particular generation of genetically modified in-vitro and in-vivo tools, such as cell lines and animals. Application of these technologies could be in the areas of target discovery, target validation and disease biology, hit discovery, lead optimization, mechanistic studies, DMPK and safety assessment.
We seek several candidates in all areas of precise genome editing, including bioinformatics, molecular biology, cell biology and in-vitro and in-vivo biology. We are looking for highly motivated candidates, with a strong scientific background, a passion for novel breakthrough technologies and a willingness to work in global multi-disciplinary teams. We offer world-class infrastructure, novel & innovative scientific projects, good funding and we strongly encourage publication of our research in leading scientific journals.
These new positions will complement and enhance our existing in-house expertise for PGE. The candidates are expected to work closely with key external collaborators at world leading academic institutions. Our objective is to achieve scientific leadership and excellence in the field of precise genome editing.
Opportunities exist at our sites in Sweden (Mölndal) and UK (Cambridge).
