Arbetsbeskrivning
Do you have interests and experiences in graphene and other 2D materials and want to immerse yourself further? Do you want to bring 2D materials and graphene films to market? Do you want to further develop your entrepreneurship? Let's validate our ideas in this project and turn it into products through our startup!
Project description
The main focus of the project is on the synthesis and characterization of graphene and other 2D materials, as well as the fabrication of graphene films for thermal dissipation. Research experience in the related fields is highly appreciated. We have the aim to commercialize the research results, therefore, if you have experiences in product design, marketing, communication with customers, it will be a merit. This position is supported by the WALP program through the Wallenberg Foundation.
Information about the research group
The research group "Polymer Chemistry and Electronics" led by Professor Ergang Wang at the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering has a focus on the synthesis and characterization of conjugated materials and 2D materials for applications in organic solar cells, organic field-effect transistors (OFETs), organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) and supercapacitors. We have well-equipped labs for synthesis and materials characterizations.
The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering
We represent a broad field of fundamental and applied research and education within chemistry and chemical engineering. Our research activities include fundamental chemistry, chemistry at the interface of biology and medicine, materials science, renewable energy, chemical engineering processing, material recycling, nuclear chemistry, and theory and modeling. We are committed to teaching at the undergraduate, graduate, as well as postgraduate levels.
Academic freedom, interdisciplinary research, entrepreneurship, and societal impact are key factors in our work. We strive to offer an environment where you can combine world-leading research and teaching with a good work-life balance.
Major responsibilities
Your major responsibility as a postdoc is to perform your own research in a research group. Another important aspect involves collaboration within academia and with society at large. The position is meritorious for future research duties within academia as well as industry/the public sector. You are expected to develop your own scientific concepts and communicate the results of your research verbally and in writing in English.
Qualifications
To be qualified for the position of postdoc, you must have a doctoral degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Physics, Material Science, or a relevant field. Your Ph.D. degree should be obtained after 2019-04-25 (less than 3 years by the application deadline). You can also apply if you will obtain your Ph.D. degree in the coming months. If you have a Ph.D. degree for more than three years, it is possible to be employed as a researcher for 1 year.
You are expected to demonstrate good potential within research and education. To succeed in this position, you also need to be highly motivated, have a problem-solving/creative attitude, and find pleasure in collaboration with others.
The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in English. Swedish is not a requirement, but Chalmers offers optional Swedish courses.
Contract terms
