Antigen specific therapy in type 1 diabetes autoimmunity


One or two postdoctoral positions are announced at the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, Institute of Biomedicine, University of Gothenburg.The positions are fulltime for two years according to "Avtal om tidsbegränsad anställning som postdoktor".Admission as soon as possible.

The project will investigate a novel tolerance inducing vector for therapeutic treatment of type 1 diabetes, funded by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and is a collaborative effort between two research groups at the department (headed by Prof.S. Cardell, and Prof.N. Lycke), and one research group in France (headed by Prof.C. Boitard).The work will involve studies of prophylactic and therapeutic treatment of type 1 diabetes in the mouse NOD model for the human disease, as well as mechanistic studies using genetically modified animal models.The two Swedish research groups are part of the dynamic multi-disciplinary Mucosal Immunobiology and Vaccine Research Center of Excellence funded by the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (see http://www.mivac.se).

Requirements: PhD obtained within three years from last application date.A proven track record is required with publications within international peer reviewed journals and very good technical skills.Successful applicants will be highly motivated and have an ability to work independently and in a group, and have a background in molecular and cellular immunology and/or animal models of autoimmunity.
