Postdoctoral fellow
Post-doctoral position at the Institute of Medicine, Department of Molecular and Clinical Medicine, Wallenberg Laboratory for Cardiovascular Research.
Project: Natural antibodies in atherosclerosis and metabolic disease.
The Wallenberg Laboratory for Cardiovascular Research is a platform for several groups conducting research on the diseases of the heart and the blood vessels, extending from clinical physiology to cellular biology. The main areas of research are atherosclerosis, lipid and carbohydrate metabolism in cardiovascular disease, cardiomyopathies, energy metabolism in ischemic tissue, and heart transplantation. The investigators have a unique breadth of competence, ranging from molecular cell biology and mouse genetics to clinical studies and microsurgery. The unique environment and the broad range of expertise stimulate productive interactions among the investigators and constitute an excellent setting for researchers in training, such as PhD students and post doctoral fellows.
The starting date is negotiable. The project is focused on the role and regulation of natural antibodies in atherosclerosis and metabolic disease, such as type 2 diabetes.Natural antibodies, which are a part of the innate immune system, are proposed to be protective in the development of atherosclerosis and we are studying the function, production and regulation of these antibodies in mouse and man.The current project is based mainly on mouse and cell culture studies and involves immunology and molecular biology techniques.
Requirements: We welcome applicants with various educational backgrounds such as molecular and cellular biology, biomedicine, pharmacy, and medicine. The applicant should have a PhD in a relevant area, preferably with experience in mouse work and/or immunology. The applicant is expected to work both independently and in close collaboration with other members of the research team.
He or she should have the ability to plan and organize the work and be able to communicate the scientific results both with research colleagues and through scientific publications.
Application: The application should be written in English and shall include:
