At the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, at the Sahlgrenska Academy, we conduct research and education covering a wide range of knowledge areas. The institute comprises five different departments: Clinical Neuroscience, Health and Rehabilitation, Pharmacology, Physiology and Psychiatry and Neurochemistry.

The Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, invites applications for a postdoctoral position at the Department of Psychiatry and Neurochemistry. At the Department of Psychiatry and Neurochemistry at the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology at the Sahlgrenska Academy, neurochemical research is focused on identifying and studying pathophysiology and pathologies in neurodegenerative diseases as well as neuroinflammation. Subject area description
Investigation of neuroinflammatory processes in neurodegenerative disease and viral infections.

Job assignments
The successful applicant will be leading an ambitious research project and be responsible for execution of the research plan, and coordination within the project group. The project involves advanced stem cell culturing, CRISPR/Cas9, virus infection, qPCR, flow cytometry, protein analysis, and method development. 

Eligibility
To qualify as a postdoctoral researcher the applicant should hold a PhD in a relevant subject. Since postdoctoral constitutes a qualifying appointment for junior researchers, we aim to target those who have a doctoral degree not older than 3 years from the application deadline.

Assessment
The applicant must have documented knowledge on and experience of research on neurodegenerative diseases and/or neuroinflammation. The candidate should be self-motivated, well organized, and should have several first author publications in areas relevant for this position. We are looking for an enthusiastic person who combines technical expertise with excellent communication skills. A prerequisite is that the applicant has significant and well-established experience of both standard methods and more advanced methodology in cell biology and immunology. Great emphasis will be placed on previous experience with stem cell culture and/or other advanced cell culture techniques. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

Employment
The employment is limited (temporary) for 24 months, 100% of full-time, and is placed at the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology. Starting date; as soon as possible or as agreed.
