Postdoctor in Technical Audiology

Linköping University advertises a position as Postdoctor in Technical Audiology, specializing in sound transmission in the inner ear at the Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine.

Duties: The Post doc is being part of the research project on inner ear sound transmission. In the project, several methods for stimulating the inner ear are researched with emphasis on direct stimulation of the cochlear fluid. The aim of the project is to systematically quantify the efficiency of the different stimulation modalities and positions, and to reveal fundamental mechanisms resulting in the sensitivity for the excitation. Three types of research models are used, including live research animals and human temporal bones. Data are collected by means of electro-physiologic methods as well as by pressure sensors and laser-Doppler vibration equipment.

A Postdoctor will essentially carry out research. The position may also involve teaching, but during no more than a fifth of work time.

Qualifications: The position requires a doctorate or an equivalent degree from a foreign university. The doctorate shall have been obtained no longer than three years before the expiration date of the application.

The post doc should hold a PhD in a field of relevance for hearing physiology and be experienced conducting measurements in research animals and human temporal bones. Experiences in audiology, hearing science, acoustics as well as using MATLAB are considered a merit.
