The Faculty has five departments: the Department of Business Administration and Textile Management, the Department of Engineering, the Department of Resource Recovery and Building Technology, the Department of Textile Technology, and the Department of Design. In textile management, research takes place on the management of textile value chains by focusing on the investigation and development of “new” structures, models and forms, which can create opportunities for sustainable value creation for companies in the textile and fashion industry as well as for the society at large. The current recruitment of a postdoctoral fellow is part of an effort to further strengthen this research environment.

The Department of Business Administration and Textile Management is now seeking a Postdoc in Textile Management with focus on supply chain management.

Job description
The postdoctoral position is part of an externally funded research project: Circular clothing dichotomies in global-local supply chain dispersion (CLOSeD) (funded by the Kamprad Foundation). The project explores how prevailing global and local conditions affect transnational reverse supply chains, with a focus on the opportunities to create and utilize value in the used clothing industry in a circular economy, and on how the creation/utilization of value can take place more efficiently. The position also includes participation in teaching (lectures, seminars and supervision).

As a postdoctoral fellow, you will work with research in business administration or industrial economics, with a focus on SCM (Supply Chain Management). The tasks include conducting research in collaboration with other project participants in accordance with the research project's approved application. The practical tasks include literature studies, development of a theoretical framework, collection of empirical data, analysis and interpretation of the results obtained, and reporting. The results will be based on multiple case studies involving many different actors in the value chain, such as actors in the textile reverse supply chains and public organizations working with environmental issues. Scientific results should be published in journals, and communicated at conferences. The tasks also include teaching, as well as supervision of students at the advanced level.

The research to be carried out includes the development of an understanding of how different structures and business models, with the help of resources and capabilities, create and distribute different types of values between actors in the global, textile circular supply chain. Ultimately, it is also about developing a practitioner-oriented framework with guidelines for participating partners' companies.

Qualifications
For the position as a postdoctoral fellow, a doctoral degree in textile management or equivalent competence with an understanding of supply chain management, operations management or industrial marketing, demonstrated pedagogical skills and experience of supervising degree projects and teaching in textile management or industrial economics is required. Furthermore, you should have a good ability to work both collaboratively and independently, and have the ability to prioritize work tasks in a structured manner. In addition to this, you also have a good ability to communicate in writing and orally in English.

Experience or basic knowledge of the textile and clothing industry and circular economy, experience of writing scientific publications and research presentations at scientific conferences and experience of working in similar projects, can be considered as additional merits for employment.

The University of Borås values the qualities that an even gender and age distribution as well as ethnic and cultural diversity bring to the business.
